Website update on the way
We have noticed a problem with the menu for the Shipwrecks section of the site and this will get worse as we add more wrecks. This problem will impact mobile phone users more than those using laptops or tablets. Ian Crawford recalls the loss of HMS E-49
The E-49 was a steel E-class fleet submarine built by Swan Hunter & Wigwam Richardson of Wallsend. Launched on 14th December 1916 her dimensions were 176' x 22.5' x 12.5' with tonnage of 673 dt. HMS Sphinx was a Halcyon class steel minesweeper and was built by William Hamilton & Company Ltd at Port Glasgow and launched on the 7th February 1939.
