About Scottish Shipwrecks

Welcome to Scottish Shipwrecks

homepageIan Crawford and Peter Moir have been diving and researching Scottish shipwrecks for over forty years. During this time they have amassed an archive of information on over 20,000 wrecks in the waters around Scotland.

This website is designed to provide access to interested parties around the world who share the same passion and interest in this fascinating historical data. Their research has resulted in two best selling books – Clyde Shipwrecks first published in 1988 and Argyll Shipwrecks first published in 1994 – both universally recognised as the definitive guide to shipwrecks in these regions of south west Scotland. Subsequent revisions have added more wrecks as Peter and Ian discovered, dived and identified them.

This website, while providing an opportunity to purchase the few remaining hard copies of these books, will over time allow purchase of the books in electronic form. However, most importantly, the site will provide access to an ever increasing portion of Ian and Peter’s substantial wreck archive.

We hope you enjoy the site and visit us often.

Ian Crawford and Peter Moir.
