Website update on the way

21st October 2020 By Peter Moir 4 Comments

We have noticed a problem with the menu for the Shipwrecks section of the site and this will get worse as we add more wrecks. This problem will impact mobile phone users more than those using laptops or tablets. As a result, we plan to adapt the Shipwrecks section by increasing the number of geographic areas from six to nine. In addition we will include on each area page – a description of the area, a wreck map with markers and a named wreck list. Both the map markers and the list will be linked to the individual wreck pages and will allow you to move around the website by either location or name based search. A sample area page for the Clyde area is located here https://www.scottishshipwrecks.com/wrecks-clyde-draft/  it can be found in the About drop down menu.

Any constructive comments are welcome.  We hope to have the new structure in place by mid November 2020 while maintaining the site in operation. On completion the plan is to start loading more wrecks onto the site. Safe diving.

    Hi Peter,
I have come to this site in researching one Ebenezer Turpie, who was lost in 1917 with the sinking of the steamer Charles Goodanew. I have written a profile on WikiTree (a site open to all and completely free to use), and would like to use some material from your website to illustrate and fill out his story – may I please have your permission?

Thank you, Peter; I will blend material from different sources into a story, but we always credit all our sources… It’s a pleasure to find such an interesting and well managed website as this. JimT
